Minneapolis North at Hopkins
1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17

Ball State recruit Ishmael El-Amin, son of former Minneapolis North superstar Khalid El-Amin, posted a game-high 28 points against his father’s alma mater a year ago to help lead Hopkins to a 98-96 victory.

In his senior season, El-Amin has emerged as the primary offensive threat for the No. 3-4A Royals after averaging 27 points per game in the team's first three contests. His performances have powered Hopkins (3-0) past its last two opponents (Columbia Heights and Rochester John Marshall) by 30 points or more.

Minneapolis North bounced back from its season-opening loss to No. 6-4A Apple Valley by piecing together three straight wins, including a 79-74 victory over No. 2-2A Minnehaha Academy on Saturday.

Sophomore guard Nasir El-Amin, Ishmael's cousin, has carved out a role in a still-developing lineup for the No. 1-1A Polars. Nasir posted a season-high 11 points against the Redhawks.

Western Illinois commit Isaac Johnson is pacing North (3-1) this season, averaging 23.2 ppg.
