Senior Travis Toivonen scored a game-high 26 points as Red Wing captured its first section championship since 2004 with a 67-51 win against Northfield on Friday night at Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.

The top-seeded Wingers (27-2), ranked No. 2 in Class 3A by Minnesota Basketball News, claimed the Section 1 title and advance to the state tournament next week by outscoring the third-seeded Raiders 42-28 in the second half.

Seniors Ben Munson and Joe Sevlie also helped pace the Red Wing offense, posting 17 and 16 points, respectively. 

Northfield was led by 17 points from senior Tanner Ernste, and finish the season with a 19-10 record.
