Apple Valley at Shakopee
7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15

Apple Valley certainly hasn't felt the effects of an 89-81 loss to Hopkins earlier this season, a victory that propelled the Royals to the top ranking in Class 4A.

The No. 2-4A ranked Eagles (13-1, 6-0) have reeled off seven straight wins and look to keep their undefeated South Suburban Conference record intact against a slumping Shakopee team.

The Sabers (11-2, 5-1) have lost two of their last four games, but hope to build off last Friday's 63-62 overtime win over No. 6-4A Lakeville North.

Shakopee's task won't be easy against the reigning Class 4A champions, as Apple Valley boasts one of the state's best lineups. The Eagles' roster includes junior forward Gary Trent Jr. and senior center Brock Bertram, who scored in double figures in both wins over the Sabers last season.

Senior forward Steffon Mitchell has been one of the state's most prolific scorers again this season, averaging 25.6 ppg for Shakopee.
