Apple Valley at Shakopee
7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13

Apple Valley is a dangerous team, in part because it has several players who can take over a game, something Shakopee learned in a 92-69 loss to the Eagles on Jan. 16.

The Sabers limited Apple Valley leading scorer Gary Trent Jr., a sophomore guard averaging 22.1 points per game, to just 13 points. Shakopee, however, could not contain the Eagles' other top scorers as junior center Brock Bertram (14.1 ppg) finished with 20 points and junior forward Cameron Kirksey (10.8 ppg) added 16. Senior forward Steven Christiansen (3.0 ppg) chipped in 14 points in the victory.

Shakopee played well offensively in the first meeting as junior center Steffon Mitchell (24.7 ppg) finished with 25 points. Junior guard Booker Coplin (14.0 ppg) finished with 14 points and senior guard Tevin Killeen's (11.5) had 13 in for the Sabers. The rest of the team had just 15 points in loss.

Shakopee may need to have another player step up on offense, or lock down defensively on Apple Valley to win this matchup.
