Northfield at Red Wing
7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27

Red Wing is making an impressive impact in its first season back in the Big 9 Conference. The No. 3-3A Wingers (15-3) are atop the standings at 12-2 and have a chance to earn another big win this week when Northfield comes to town.

The Raiders (13-5) own a 10-4 league record and gain gain ground in the standings with a victory.

This season has been quite a turnaround for Northfield, which finished 7-20 last year. The Raiders have eight regular-season games remaining and are close to recording their first winning season since 2008-09. A key piece to Northfield's emergence is the continued improvement of junior forward Luke Harris, who leads the team in scoring at 18.9 points per game.

Red Wing's recipe for success this season includes mixing solid defense with two prolific scorers. The Wingers surrender just 49.4 ppg, while and senior forward Ty Buck (17.7 ppg) and junior guard Travis Toivonen (16.1 ppg) are the scoring leaders.

Red Wing won at Northfield 79-57 on Dec. 5 in the season's first meeting between the teams.
