Minneapolis North at Rushford-Peterson
3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31

Two Class 1A teams seemingly destined for state tournament appearances square off as No. 1 Minneapolis North travels to No. 2 Rushford-Peterson on Jan. 31.

The Polars cruised to an 80-51 victory over Maranatha Christian Academy on Jan. 17, the last time Minneapolis North played the No. 2 team in Class 1A. The Mustangs' loss allowed the Trojans to climb into the spot.

Minneapolis North (17-3) is winning with offense and enters the game averaging 81 points per game. The backcourt tandem of junior Tyler Johnson (17.3 ppg) and sophomore Isaac Johnson (15.7 ppg) are the team's top scorers, while sophomore center Jamil Jackson (13.3 ppg) and freshman big man Odel Wilson IV (10.1 ppg) power the Polars' frontcourt.

Rushford-Peterson is no stranger to knocking off top-ranked teams, as the Trojans defeated No. 1-2A Caledonia 65-60 in a Three Rivers Conference clash on Jan. 22. Senior center Kyler Paulson finished with 16 points, while senior guards Alex Vix (15 points), Jacob Merchiewitz (14) and Charlie Krambeer (10) aided Rushford-Peterson's offensive attack in the victory.
