Floodwood at Barnum
7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23

Rarely will a team with a 15-0 record enter a game as a heavy underdog, but that may be the case for Floodwood as it travels to Barnum on Friday for a matchup between the top two teams in the Polar Conference.

The game pits Floodwood's potent offense against Barnum's stingy defense.

The Polar Bears are 7-0 in league play thanks to an offense averaging a conference-best 74.1 points per game.

The No. 2-2A Bombers (14-0) are 8-0 in league play because they hold opponents to a conference-leading 37.6 ppg.

Barnum's defense has been dominant all season, as the Bombers smallest margin of victory was 14 points in win over Moose Lake-Willow River on Dec. 12.

It's likely this game will determine the winner of the Polar League title, and it's hard to bet against Barnum, which hasn't had a season with fewer than 20 wins since 2008-09.

The teams split their past two meetings with Barnum winning 63-47 on Jan. 31 and Floodwood winning 56-53 two seasons ago.
