Rushford-Peterson at Caledonia
7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 22

Rushford-Peterson (10-0) heads to Caledonia (9-0) for a rivalry game featuring undefeated teams from the Three Rivers Conference.

No. 1-2A Caledonia just suffered its first loss, falling to Waverly-Shell Rock - Iowa's top-ranked Class 3A team - in the Midwest Players Classic at the La Crosse Center on Jan. 17.

The Warriors' loss could be Caledonia's gain. Playing quality outstate teams such as the Go-Hawks prepares the Warriors for matchups with instate powerhouses such as the Trojans, who have finished no lower than third place in each of the last three Class 1A state tournaments

No. 3-1A Rushford-Peterson (14-1) is on a 10-game winning streak and looks to be on pace for another state tournament berth.

The chase for the league championship will likely come down to these two teams. That was the case last season when the Trojans finished 19-1 in conference play and edged the Warriors by 1 1/2 games in the final standings.

Caledonia, however, handed Rushford-Peterson its only loss last year, a 60-49 defeat on Jan. 24. The Trojans then reeled off 13 straight wins to reach the Class 1A state championship game, where they lost to Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 52-40.
