Wayzata at Maple Grove
7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 24

Wayzata is 11-4 overall, with its losses all coming to ranked opponents (No. 4-4A Minnetonka, No. 3-4A Eden Prairie, No. 2-3A St. Paul Johnson and No. 10-4A Hopkins). The Trojans hope to end that trend as they travel to No. 6-4A Maple Grove (13-2) in a matchup of Class 4A, Section 5 teams.

Wayzata coach Bryan Schnettler does not have an easy task designing a defense to slow the Crimson, who have a plethora of capable scorers. Six players average at least 8.5 points per game, led by sophomore guards Brad Davison (14.4 ppg) and Tywhon Pickford (11.4 ppg), and senior center Reed Nikko (10.6 ppg).

Schnettler's team is led in scoring by three juniors: guards Johnny Beeninga (17.1 ppg) and Jack Sowada (13.6 ppg) and forward Austin Slater (11.9 ppg).

Maple Grove defeated Wayzata 88-52 last season.
