Hopkins at Edina
7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9

Hopkins struggled for a few weeks after losing star player Amir Coffey to a knee injury on Dec. 2.

However, the Royals have steadied and are back to their winning ways. Hopkins rides a four-game winning streak into the week and has re-entered the Class 4A rankings at No. 10.

The Royals also return to conference play this week with a game at Edina.

Edina is on a run of its own, winning three games over the holiday break. However, the Hornets are 0-2 in Lake Conference play and need their top scorers to play well to have a shot to defeat the reigning conference champions.

Walt McGrory (16.6 points per game), Will Moreton (13.0 ppg), Max Lynch (12.6 ppg) and John Swanke (11.9 ppg) have proven to be capable scoring options 12 games into the season.

Hopkins' John Warren has stepped up in Coffey's absence. The senior guard leads the team with a 15.8 points-per-game average. Xavier Johnson (13.4 ppg) and Vinnie Shahid (10.8 ppg) are also providing scoring for the Royals.
