Rosemount at Shakopee
7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11

Shakopee is off to a hot start, but the No. 9-4A Sabers (4-0) could be cooled when they take on Rosemount (1-3), a team that has controlled the series recently.

Shakopee has not defeated the Irish since Jan. 8, 2011. That run includes a loss last season when the Sabers - in the middle of a 24-7 season - fell 64-49 to a Rosemount team that would finish 15-13.

Steffon Mitchell has emerged as a player Shakopee coach Bruce Kugath can rely on night in and night out. The junior is averaging 31.2 points per game after the Sabers' first four games.

Rosemount coach Keenan Shelton has several players who are consistently showing up in the scoring column, including Jack Kessler (13.2 ppg) and Kyle Kaupa (10.0 ppg).
