Crosby-Ironton at Detroit Lakes

Two of the top teams in the Mid-State Conference meet this Friday when Crosby-Ironton travels to Detroit Lakes.

Both teams had strong regular seasons, but struggled to carry the success into the postseason.

The Lakers went 18-9 but were upset by Fergus Falls 47-43 in overtime in opening round of the Class 3A, Section 8 playoffs.

Detroit Lakes returns its top two scorers from last season. Senior guards Ryan Cihak (10.1 points per game) and Christian Hedstrom (11.6 ppg) will also man the backcourt. 

The Rangers fell to East Grand Forks 50-46 in the Class 2A, Section 8 subsection final. 

Crosby-Ironton returns senior center Daniel Hudrlik, who averaged 14.8 points and 5.5 rounds per game. The Rangers (1-0), No. 9, defeated Hawley 84-83 on Nov. 25.

The Lakers and Rangers split the regular-season matchups last year. Crosby-Ironton won 60-39 in the first, while Detroit Lakes took the second 51-49.
