Fairmont and Waseca meet in an early South Central Conference battle between two teams that had fantastic seasons.

Fairmont finished last year with a record of 25-6 and placed fourth in the Class 2A state tournament. 

The Cardinals are 1-1 and led by forward Anders Landenget, who posted 20-point performances in each of the first two games.

No.4-2A Waseca went 24-3 and won 15 straight games after the Christmas break. The Bluejays' run ended with an upset loss in the second round of the Section 2 tournament.

Waseca is 2-0 after winning 53-35 at Tri-City United on Nov. 21 and 68-52 at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Nov. 25. Nick Dufault scored 17 points and Cole Streich had 16 for the Bluejays in the opener.

Waseca defeated Fairmont in both matchups (67-58 and 69-53) last season.
