Two of the Wright County Conference’s premier programs renew acquaintances Tuesday night in Waconia, as the Wildcats host bitter rival Orono. Both are chasing Holy Family Catholic in the conference standings and are hoping to enter the upcoming section playoffs in a roll. Waconia claimed the first meeting, 65-62 on Jan. 21 at Orono behind 18 points from Ryan Boll (17.3 ppg), 17 from Jacob Herd (12.3 ppg) and 11 from Tommy Gove (10.8 ppg). Those three seniors are the heart and soul of the Wildcats, with Gove running the show as point guard, Herd the top 3-point shooter and Boll a versatile power forward. Orono was paced by Cole Hennings (11.9 ppg) with 14 points. He’s the only double-figure scorer for the Spartans, who have a balanced lineup with six players averaging at least 7.1 ppg.
