No. 5 Eden Prairie at Edina
7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11

By the end of the winter, these two programs will be plenty familiar. Not only do they play twice in the Lake Conference schedule, but also are now both in Section 6AAAA for the upcoming playoffs. They’ve already met once, an 85-71 Eden Prairie home victory on Jan. 24 in which a combined nine players scored in double figures. That’s the story of these typical big-school powers, who have a deep and balanced lineup of athletes. Edina’s Mahad Haji (13.7 ppg) led all players with 18 points in that game, but couldn’t overcome 17 points from Eden Prairie’s Grantham Gillard (20.1 ppg), 16 from Blake Cashman (9.1 ppg) and 16 from Alex Ihrke (7.6 ppg). One difference is that while the Eagles are a veteran team, Edina graduated much of its starting lineup from last year’s Class 4A third-place team.
