No. 6-1A Southwest MN Christian at No. 3-1A Dawson-Boyd
2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15

This could very well be a preview of the Section 3A championship game later this winter. Southwest MN Christian is the defending Class 1A state champion and features big man Leighton Sampson, who had 22 points and three blocked shots in the Eagles’ 81-73 victory over Maranatha Christian last March. Coach Jamie Pap also knows how to win — he was part of the Eagles’ four straight state titles from 1999-2002. Dawson-Boyd will be a road block to SMC’s road to state, as the Blackjacks returned four starters from last year’s 22-victory season. Guards Michael Lee (24.2 ppg) and Joey Lee (17.7 ppg) lead Dawson-Boyd, which should set up a great perimeter versus paint showdown in this game.
