The North Lakes Academy (NLA) Boys' Basketball Team will be commencing their fourth season November 19, 2012.  The NLA Huskies are coming off their first winning season at 14-12 in 2011-12 after the first two seasons resulted in 0 wins in the regular seasons.  The first Huskie win came in the section opener in 2010-11 giving the first graduating NLA class a well deserved win.

The Huskies lost two key players from last year's team.  2011-12 senior captain Nic Harrington graduated and is now serving our country in the National Guard.  Junior point guard Matt Eiden has decided to pursue his sport of soccer.  We expect big things from both young men as they move forward.

The loss of both Harrington and Eiden open the door for players to step up this year.  Harrington's leadership will be sorely missed as well as Eiden's poise and guidance. Chris Rosencrantz, last year's leading scorer, returns as a junior guard. Seniors Josh Ozment and Brandon Flom, former NLA scoring leader, return to the front court along with Juniors Jake Ozment, second in 2011-12 scoring, and Cody Warren.  Junior guards Derek and Dylan Beatty will head up the back court along with sophomore guard Jackson Newbauer.  All purpose junior Evan Svenkeson will see time at all five positions in 2012-13.

At the time of this writing, there are a two players undecided on their return.  Senior Noah Braham and sophomore Josiah Nosser have yet to commit.  Add in a few surprise additions or improvements, the Huskies look forward to 2012-13 season. The Huskies will face possible tryouts for the first time this year in NLA history.  A large group of new players, transfers and freshmen might put the NLA Huskie hopefuls over 24.
