Player of the Week winner

Nathan Hendler, Holy Family Catholic: Hendler hit five three-pointers and finished with a season-high 28 points in a 73-50 victory over Belle Plaine on Dec. 27. He nearly matched the total the following night, scoring 27 points in an 88-55 win against Glencoe-Silver Lake.

Player of the Week candidates

Matthew Hurt, Rochester John Marshall: The junior set a new season-high with 51 points in an 83-75 victory against Robbinsdale Armstrong on Dec. 28. Hurt is averaging a state-leading 38.9 points per game for the No. 9-4A Rockets.

Calvin Wishart, Delano: Wishart twice narrowly missed the 30-point mark as Delano split two games at the Granite City Classic. The senior scored 27 in a 69-56 loss to St. Cloud Apollo, and he had 29 as the No. 6-3A  Tigers beat Lakeville South 65-42.

Matt Todd, Monticello: Todd put together monster games on back-to-back nights at the Buffalo Invitational, leading Monticello to a pair of wins. In an 88-74 victory over Stillwater on Dec. 28, he made 12 of 22 shots from the field and went 16-for-16 from the free-throw line to finish with 43 points. Todd also added eight rebounds, eight assists and eight steals. The following day, he scored 31 as the Magic defeated Pipestone 84-81.

Jake Kettner, Minnesota Valley Lutheran: Kettner had memorable run at the Bethany Lutheran Tournament with a trio of sensational performances. Kettner opened the event with a 31-point game in a 70-42 win over Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Dec. 27. The next night, he had 28 points in an 81-58 loss to St. Croix Lutheran, and the junior saved his best outing for the final game, finishing with 32 points in a 70-69 loss to Maple River on Dec. 29.

Jayden Ruberg, Two Harbors: Ruberg is averaging 27.4 points per game this season for the Agates and just missed reaching the mark in a 73-64 loss to Lakeview Christian on Dec. 27, finishing with 26 points.

Tre Jones, Apple Valley: Jones poured in 36 points against No. 5-4A Park Center in a 62-59 victory on Dec. 29. He shot 13-for-24, including making three three-pointers, and pulled down 10 rebounds for the No. 6-4A Eagles (6-3, 1-0).

Ean Thomsen, Nicollet: Thomsen posted back-to-back 35-point games to lead Nicollet to a 2-0 record at its own tournament on Dec. 27-28. He shot 15 of 24 against New Ulm Cathedral in a 90-85 win and was 15-for-22 in an 85-63 win over Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart the next night.

Zeke Nnaji, Hopkins: Nnaji scored 26 points in an 84-77 victory over St. Thomas Academy. Nnaji is averaging 19.6 points per game for the No. 2-4A Royals (10-1, 1-0), who have won 10 straight games since a season-opening loss to Cretin-Derham Hall.

Henry Abraham, Cambridge-Isanti: Abraham had 27 points in an 85-68 victory over Minneapolis Patrick Henry on Dec. 29, and the sophomore posted a 24-point game in an 80-77 loss to Chanhassen the following night.
