Tre Jones scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half and grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds.

Having Tre Jones on the court made all the difference for Apple Valley Saturday night in the Breakdown Sports Tip Off Classic.

With the future Duke Blue Devil relegated to the sideline with three fouls for the final nine minutes of the first half, second-ranked (Class 2A) Minneapolis North erased a double-digit deficit and pulled even with the defending 4A champs 35-35 by halftime. Jones returned for the second half and helped the Eagles salt away an 81-73 victory over the Polars in Hopkins.

Jones scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half and grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds. His soaring dunk brought older brother Tyus Jones and several of his Timberwolves teammates to their feet and put Apple Valley up by seven points with 7:14 to go.

Josh Arnold made 16 of 19 free throws for the Eagles on his way to 20 points and Zach Zorba drilled four three-pointers en route to 19 points.

Taylor Johnson led Minneapolis North with 21 points. Odell Wilson IV scored 20 points and brought down eight rebounds.

After scoring the first basket of the second half, the Polars never got back within a possession.
