In a game that stayed close until the final buzzer, Redwood Falls finished when it mattered. Fueled by Michael Busack and JT Radel (23 points, six rebounds), the Cardinals outlasted Minnehaha Academy.

“It feels great,” said Busack, who finished with 28 points and 19 rebounds. “This atmosphere is nuts, and the gym was just crazy.”

Redwood Valley jumped out to a 16-11 lead, but Minnehaha’s Asante Simmons responded with two three-pointers to tie it at 22. The Redhawks had the chance to go to halftime tied but missed three of six free throws in the final two minutes of the first to remain at 31-29.

The Redhawks came out hot in the second half — staging an 11-4 run to take the lead — but Redwood (22-7) responded to go up by a point. Busack picked up a third foul midway through the half, but stayed in the game. The Redhawks (17-13) brought it within two again in the final minute, but the Cardinals hit their last four free throws to pad the victory.
