The No. 4 seed Hylanders (24-6) said they didn’t come out with their customary quickness, but a slower and more steady approach helped them win the game.

The key statistic in their victory: a mere five turnovers. Coach Willie Braziel said he expected such poise from a starting lineup of three seniors and two juniors. But Marshall coach Tom Critchley Jr. was impressed.

“We were hoping to make them guess,” Critchley said. “But they made some good decisions, and they are so athletic.”

Columbia Heights guard Zach Lofton, who led the metro area in scoring during the regular season with 30.4 points a game, scored a game-high 25  and added six assists. Distant cousins Ben and Keanu Glover had a combined 35 points.

Collin Hoover scored 20 points for Marshall (21-9), which trailed 40-30 at halftime and never pulled within seven points.
