Top Minnesota high school basketball players by class

Minnesota boasted a five-star player in every high school grade for the first time ever in 2016-17. Recruiting analysts say those four players either are or will be ranked in the top 15 nationally in their class.

Minnesota boasted a five-star player in every high school grade for the first time ever in 2016-17. Recruiting analysts say those four players either are or will be ranked in the top 15 nationally in their class.

Freshman: Jalen Suggs, Grassroots Sizzle, led Minnehaha Academy to a Class 2A basketball championship.

Sophomore: Matthew Hurt (pictured above left), D1 Minnesota, plays for Rochester John Marshall.

Junior: Tre Jones, Howard Pulley, already has played on two state championship teams at Apple Valley High School.

Senior: Gary Trent Jr. played senior season at Prolific Prep in California, spent his formative years in the Twin Cities with Howard Pulley and Apple Valley High School.
