Pierz players face hazing charges

Two players will face fifth-degree assault charges

Two Pierz basketball players have been charged as adults with fifth-degree assault after an alleged hazing incident last month when the team was returning from a game.

According to the Brainerd Dispatch, Brandon Meyer and Andrew  Leidenfrost, both age 18, were issued misdemeanor citations after the alleged incident. Meyer was charged with two counts and Leidenfrost was charged with four counts of fifth-degree assault.

Three others who were allegedly involved with be seen in juvenile court in Morrison County.

Meyer and Leidenfrost’s first appearance in court is scheduled for Februray 28. Both played in Friday night's loss to Maple Lake.

According to a previous report, the players allegedly involved were suspended from school for three days in January and not allowed to play for two weeks.
