Monticello’s Matt Todd and Simley’s Jake Binley’s 50+ point outings highlighted a night with many upsets.

Monticello 87, Buffalo 79. Matt Todd posted a school-record 52 points to clinch the Magic their sixth win of seven games in February. Rezi Useh chipped in 15 points for Monticello. Tyler and Andrew Johnson led Buffalo with 26 and 25 points, respectively. 

Simley 91, South St. Paul 76. Jake Binley nearly doubled his season-high of 26 points by pouring in 53 to lead the Spartans win over South St. Paul. The Packers had five scorers in double figures, led by Emanuel Olvera’s 19. Sam Vujovich chipped in 15 for Simley.

Elk River 59, Robbinsdale Armstrong 56. The Elks trailed by three at halftime, but scored 35 points in the second frame to upset the Class 4A, No. 10 Falcons. Jack Burger led four Elk River scorers who reached double figures with 14 points. Davonte Saeed-El posted a game-high 19 for Robbinsdale Armstrong.

Rochester John Marshall 90, Winona 46. Five-star recruit, sophomore Matthew Hurt, posted a 33-point, 14-rebound double-double to help the Rockets secure their 18th win in a row. Hurt was 5 of 9 from three-point range and 14 of 20 overall. Decode Chan had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Rochester John Marshall.

New London-Spicer 70, Watertown-Mayer 69. The Wildcats fought back from a seven-point deficit and scored 41 points in the final half to upset Class 2A, No. 10 Watertown-Mayer. Brandon Adelman had a team-high 26 points for New London-Spicer, followed by Mitchell Halvorson who scored 20. Pepperdine prospect and Mr. Basketball finalist Trae Berhow tallied a game-high 29 points for the Royals.

Hopkins 74, Eden Prairie 61. Ball state commit Ishmael El-Amin paced the Class 2A, No. 6-ranked Royals to their seventh consecutive win with 20 points, followed by Joe Hedstrom’s season-high 19. Owen Chose poured in a game-leading 27 points for the Eagles.

Totino-Grace 74, Centennial 71. The Eagles overcame a seven-point deficit and clinched the game on a last-second 3-pointer by Zach Ban. Ban had a team-high 22 points for Class 3A, No. 10 Totino-Grace. Josh McGreal posted 28 points for the Cougars.

Glencoe Silver-Lake 84, Rockford 82 (OT). The Panthers outscored the Rockets 6-4 in the overtime session, with Nick Schmidt sinking the game-winning basket with under 10 seconds remaining. Luke Frahm led Glencoe Silver-Lake with 27 points, while Schmidt followed his teammate with 14. 

Edina 63, Minnetonka 62. Anders Nelson converted a layup late in the game, and Luke Glenna sealed the win with a steal on the final possession. Edina was led by Jack Middleton who chipped in 12 points, followed by Walt McGrory and Jimmy Connell who scored 11 a piece. Galen Dearring and Isaiah Carver-Bagley both tallied 17 for the Skippers.

Hastings 70, Mahtomedi 69. The Raiders edged out a one-point victory on the shoulders of Brandon Haraldson’s 26 points to upend Class 3A, No. 3 Mahtomedi. Parker Fox had a team-leading 23 points for the Zephyrs, followed by Shane Frost’s 19. Colin Kummer chipped in 17 for Hastings. 

North St. Paul 82, Hill-Murray 68. Goodnews Kpegeol was the only member of the Polars to reach double figures, posting 31 points to carry North St. Paul to victory. Simeon Davis, the state’s leading scorer, posted 40 points for the Pioneers.

Jordan 75, Sibley East 49. Jimmy Vollbrecht of Jordan led all scores with 27 points and with this win, Jordan wins the Minnesota River conference title out-right.

Coon Rapids 71, Irondale 70. (2 OT). Coon Rapids had clutch free throw shooting in the second overtime, giving them a narrow one point victory over Irondale. Coon Rapids was led by Lionel Warner with 26 points, and Tyree'on Johnson with 21 points.

Woodbury 76, Cretin-Derham Hall 75. Ryan Christensen knocked down the game-winning basket with 3.5 seconds remaining. Christensen finished the game with just four points as the Royals were led by Michael Jones and Jake West who scored 27 and 25 points, respectively. Minnesota commit, Daniel Oturu, had a team-high 25 for the Raiders who had four other scorers post double figures.

Apple Valley 87, Eastview 43. Trailing 12-11 early, the Eagles exploded midway thru the 1st half, opening up a 28 point lead at the half versus Eastview. Apple Valley extended that lead in the 2nd half and dominated the Lighting with a 44 point victory. Tre Jones had another triple-double with 29 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists. Twelve Eagles found their way onto the score sheet on the night.

Rothsay 69, Hillcrest Lutheran 67 (2 OT). Wyatt Curtis sank the game-winning basket at the horn for the Tigers who kept the Comets from earning a share of the Little Eight Conference title.
