Senior guard Josh High nailed a 22-footer at the buzzer as Buffalo survived a scare from Marshall at the Breakdown Sports Tip Off Classic at Minnetonka High School. High's long trey gave the Bison a 72-69 victory in a game they led by as many as 17 points in the first half.
High (15 points) and junior Dominic Gilmer (19 points) combined to hit seven of Buffalo's nine first-half three-pointers, as the Bison built up a 36-21 lead at the break.
But Marshall turned to full-court pressure in the second half and quickly began to cut into the Bison's lead. With Caleb Johnson hitting a pair of driving layups and a three from the left corner in the final minutes, the Tigers came all the way back to tie at 69-all. Buffalo broke the Marshall press in the final seconds, as Andy Ortmann drove the lane and dished to High at the top of the key for the winner.
Johnson led all scorers with 23 points, while junior guard Ben Sanders chipped in with 12 for Marshall. In addition to High and Gilmer, Ortmann (11 points) and Ethan Freer (14) also scored in double-figures for Buffalo.
