Five-game Minnesota-Wisconsin prep border battle set for Saturday

The games at Apple Valley High School feature 14 Division I prospects.

The 11th annual Minnesota vs. Wisconsin Border Battle is set for Saturday at Apple Valley High School. The daylong basketball event, which begins at 10 a.m. and concludes at 7:30 p.m., will feature 14 Division I prospects from 10 different teams.

11:30 a.m. – Minnehaha Academy vs. Prescott (WI)

Ranked No.1 in 2A, Minnehaha Academy (12-5) features five-star freshman guard Jalen Suggs, who is averaging 24 points per game.

2:45 p.m. –  Cretin-Derham Hall vs. Stevens Point (WI)

The Raiders (11-4) are ranked No. 7 in Class 4A and are led by 6-8 Daniel Oturu, who recently made a verbal commitment to Minnesota. Oturu is scoring 18 points per game while pulling down 17 rebounds per game.

4:15 p.m. – DeLaSalle vs. Kaukauna (WI)

DeLaSalle (12-2) is led by two top-200 prospects in senior Goanar Mar and junior Gabe Kalscheur. The Islanders are five-time Class 3A defending champions and will have to contain Kaukauna senior Jordan McCabe, who is committed to West Virgina.

6 p.m. – Lakeville North vs. La Crosse Central (WI)

Two future Badger teammates square off as Central’s Kobe King and Panthers’ Nathan Reuvers are both committed to Wisconsin. Ranked No. 3 in Class 4A, Lakeville North (13-1) also features Class of 2019 talent Tyler Wahl.

7:30 p.m. – Apple Valley vs. Milwaukee Riverside (WI)

Five-star prospect Tre Jones is averaging 22 points per game and Apple Valley (12-2) is ranked No. 5 in Class 4A. Riverside’s Terrence Lewis is committed to Iowa State and is a top-100 talent.
