Class 3A

With Fergus Falls falling out of this week’s Minnesota Basketball News rankings, Class 3A now boasts two teams that are still undefeated.

Waseca, which wasn't in the top 10 a week ago, landed at the No. 9 spot, helped by an impressive 30-point win over St. Peter on Jan. 5. Senior Kaleb Nelson scored 22 points for the Bluejays, who improved to 11-0. They also have won all their games by at least 11 points.

Austin moved up one spot to No. 7 after winning two games last week, including a 68-60 victory over Big 9 Conference rival Northfield that put the Packers' record at 8-0.

DeLaSalle retains its weeks-long position atop the Class 3A rankings after posting a 76-74 victory over Osseo on Wednesday and setting a season-high for points in a 98-64 rout of St. Anthony. The Islanders' previous high came in an 83-24 win at Concordia Academy in the second game of the year.

Goanar Mar had 27 points in the win over St. Anthony and leads his team with 191 points this season.

There was no change to the rest of the top 6 this week (No. 2 Delano, No. 3 Totino-Grace, No. 4 Orono, No. 5 Marshall and No. 6 Big Lake).

Class 1A

Spring Grove, Ada-Borup and Red Rock Central are new to this week's Class 1A rankings.

Spring Grove took the No. 6 spot, while Ada-Borup and Red Rock Central received the No. 9 and No. 10 rankings, respectively, after both won two games last week to remain undefeated on the season. Red Rock Central won each of its games by at least 21 points.

Goodhue held steady at No. 4. The Wildcats improved to 12-0 following wins over Kenyon-Wanamingo, Southland and Lyle/Austin Pacelli -- all by at least 13 points and all coming within a four-day span.

Minneapolis North's Isaac Johnson ranks 10th in the state with 251 points this season. The senior put up 41 combined points in the Polars' last two wins, which helped the team cement its place atop the rankings. North has produced at least 80 points in six of its 12 games this season.

Central Minnesota Christian is No. 3 and Cass Lake-Bena is No. 5 this week.
