Recap: Spring Grove takes down Browerville/Eagle Valley

Spring Grove held on to a nine-point halftime lead to defeat Browerville/Eagle Valley 58-48 Saturday at the Breakdown Tip Off Classic at Hopkins High School.

Alex Folz paced the Lions', ranked No. 5 in Class 1A by Minnesota Basketball News, with 16 points to keep Spring Grove (5-0) undefeated on the season. Chase Grinde and Brock Schuttemeier also reached double digits, adding 14 and 12 points, respectively.

The matchup was the closest game of season for both teams. The Lions won their first four games by anywhere from 17 to 69 point margins, while the Tigers won their season opener by 36 points.

Browerville/Eagle Valley’s Bryce Irsfeld led the offense for the Tigers (1-1) with 16 points. Jordan Gorder contributed 11 points.
