Champlin Park had a spirited season debut as the Rebels rolled Rochester John Marshall 113-74 Saturday evening in the Breakdown Sports Tip Off Classic at the Lindberg Center in Hopkins.
With the game still tight, Brian Smith scored 12 straight points to give Champlin Park, ranked No. 1 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News, a commanding lead that was never relinquished.
Smith scored 20 of his 22 points in the first half, while McKinley Wright posted a game-high 27 points for the Rebels (1-0).
Matthew Hurt scored 24 points for the Rockets (0-1).
