Last season, three of Minnetonka's star players were suspended multiple games for violating Minnesota State High School League rules. Head coach John Hedstrom resigned in the middle of the season after he had previously been placed on administrative leave by the school district.
The team struggled to a 12-13 regular season record and eventually lost to rival Hopkins by 35 points in the section tournament.
