No. 1, 3A Wingers lose for the first time

MANKATO EAST 64, RED WING 62 (OT)

Sam Ahrens’ three-point field goal from near half-court at the buzzer lifted visiting Mankato East to the overtime victory over the Wingers, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A. The loss was the first of the season for the Wingers (21-1), who led by five at halftime.  Ahrens, Krisean Coffee and Ben Schwartz each scored 15 for the Cougars. Travis Toivonen and Ben Munson each scored 18 to lead the Wingers.

LAKEVILLE NORTH 69, SHAKOPEE 47

The visiting Panthers pulled away in the second half to take over sole possession of second place in the South Suburban standings. Calven Pesola and Nathan Reuvers each scored 16 to lead the Panthers (20-3, 13-2 South Suburban). The Panthers led by five at halftime before outscoring the Sabers, 36-19, in the second half. Shakopee fell to 19-4, 12-3 in the conference.

APPLE VALLEY 73, BURNSVILLE 55

Cam Kirksey scored 21 and Brock Bertram scored 18 to lead the Eagles, the top ranked team in Class 4A, to their 16th consecutive victory. Marcus Shepley scored 16 to lead the Blaze. Gary Trent Jr. had 10 points and six rebounds in limited action, due to illness, for the Eagles (22-1, 15-0 South Suburban).

CHASKA 93, RICHFIELD 57

Myles Hanson (30 points) and Jameson Meyer (26 points) teamed to lead the Hawks, ranked No. 10 in Class 4A, past the visiting Spartans.

NEW PRAGUE 66, DELANO 52

Austin Greenwalt and Zach Hanson each scored 17 points to lead the visiting Trojans past the Tigers, ranked No. 5 in Class 3A. Lucas Walford added 16 points for the Trojans. Calvin Wishart scored 20 to lead the Tigers.

ORONO 87, HOLY FAMILY 74

The Spartans, ranked No. 7 in Class 3A, raced to a 17-point halftime lead en route to the victory over the Fire. Alexander Kill scored 23 points to lead the Spartans. Aaron Nowak scored 16 to lead the Fire.

ST. CROIX LUTHERAN 79, CONCORDIA ACADEMY 39

Trenton Krueger scored 28 points and Ade Murkey scored 20 to pace the Crusaders, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A, past the Beacons.

LAKEVILLE SOUTH 75, FARMINGTON 70

Jack Sorenson scored 31 points and Shae Mitchell scored 21 to help the host Cougars outlast the Tigers for the South Suburban victory.

PRIOR LAKE 88, EASTVIEW 80

The Lakers overcame a 46-point performance by Eastview’s Sean Ryan to earn the South Suburban victory. Jack Kortes scored 26 and Alex Preston scored 24 to lead the Lakers.

MINNEHAHA ACADEMY 56, BRECK 50

Eighth-grader Jalen Suggs scored 25 points to help the Redhawks, ranked No. 6 in Class 2A, clinch a tie for the IMAC conference championship. The Redhawks improved to 8-0 in the IMAC with two conference games remaining. Breck fell to 6-2 in the conference.

BROOKLYN CENTER 52, FRIDLEY 49

Rudwan Tahir’s three-point field goal with four seconds remaining lifted the Centaurs past the host Tigers. Dashawn Pickford scored 15 to lead the Centaurs, who trailed by 11 at halftime.  Teathloach Pal scored 18 to lead the Tigers.

ST. PAUL PREP 71, METRO PREP 41

Mikolaj Ogonowski scored 34 and Allen Ye scored 20 to lead the Falcons to the victory.
