Tuesday 's boys' basketball roundup (Jan. 12): Davison, Maple Grove rally past Armstrong

MAPLE GROVE 55, ARMSTONG 53: Point guard Brad Davison went off for 33 points to power the Crimson, ranked No. 3 in Class 4A, to the comeback victory over No. 8 Armstrong. The Falcons were led by 22 points from Jubie Alade.

CHAMPLIN PARK 70, ELK RIVER 60: The Rebels, ranked No. 4 in Class 4A, rallied to beat their Northwest Suburban rival behind 17 points each from Theo John and McKinley Wright. Champlin Park trailed by a point at halftime before outscoring the host Elks 39-28 in the second half. Matthew Keller led Elk River with 20 points.  

RED WING 75, ROCHESTER JOHN MARSHALL 65: Joe Sevlie had 28 points and 12 rebounds to help Red Wing, ranked No. 2 in Class 3A, top No. 9 Rochester John Marshall. Teammate Travis Toivonen added 23 points, 6 rebounds, and four assists. Freshman Matthew Hurt led Rochester John Marshall with 28 points and eight rebounds. He made four threes in the game. 

COOPER 71, BLOOMINGTON KENNEDY 23: The Hawks breezed past the Eagles behind Beijan Newbern’s 18 points.  Damien Gordon added 14 points and Devin Mosby had 11. Cooper limited Kennedy to just seven points in the second half.

LAKEVILLE SOUTH 68, EASTVIEW 57: Jack Sorenson scored 22 points to help the Cougars down their South Suburban rival. Teammate Blake Wacholz added 14 points. Martin Mitchell led Eastview with 18 points.

ST. LOUIS PARK 85, BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S 75: Five different players scored in the double-digits to help the Orioles land the Metro West victory. Ray Whitlock led St. Louis Park with 19 points and Mykal Howard added 16. Cire Mayfield scored 14, Ryan Domres had 11, and Josiah Morrow had 10. The Orioles improved to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in Metro West play.

DELASALLE 52, BROOKLYN CENTER 50: The Islanders held off the Centaurs' second half rally and improved to 2-0 in the Tri-Metro. Dominic Bledsoe led the DeLaSalle with a game-high 14 points.

OSSEO 89, TOTINO-GRACE 54: The Orioles, ranked No. 5 in Class 4A, stormed out to a 55-29 lead before halftime and cruised to the Northwest Suburban victory. Zach Theisen led Osseo with 18 points and four other teammates eclipsed double-digits in the rout.
