There will be a plethora of talented basketball squads taking the court at Minnetonka High School on Saturday for the annual Breakdown Sports USA Tip Off Classic. One of the docket's 15 games is a matchup of budding Class 4A teams: Wayzata and Maple Grove.

The Crimson, ranked No. 3 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News, will be seeking to avenge a season-ending 77-62 loss to the Trojans in the Class 4A,
Section 5 semifinals last March. It will be Maple Grove's only chance, unless both teams make the state tournament, after the Crimson's move into Section 8 this season.

Wayzata, meanwhile, hopes to build off last year's 21-8 record, but the No. 8-4A Trojans are entering a tough three-game stretch that includes No. 2-4A Hopkins and ends with a matchup against their former section foe.

Both teams open the season poised to make a run at the state tournament with a number of starters returning.

Maple Grove coach Nick Schroeder's squad includes leading scorer Brad Davison, who scored 16.7 points per game as a sophomore.

Johnny Beeninga is back for his senior season in a Wayzata uniform after leading the team with 16.7 ppg last season.

With the Crimson and the Trojans boasting experienced rosters ready to take the next step, this matchup has all the makings for a great Top Game of the Week.
