New Prague senior point guard Malik Jallah will be counted on for leadership on the boys’ basketball team in 2014-15.

Trojans coach Aaron Jasperson said Jallah is “quick and shoots it well.” He is one of eight seniors on the roster.

The Trojans are looking to rebound from a 9-18 season.

Here is a closer look at Jallah, who also played football for the Trojans in the fall:

Q: What is the best movie you’ve seen in the last year?

A: “Superbad.”

Q: What are a couple of words your friends or teammates might use to describe you?

A: Energetic and loud.

Q: Three songs I never skip on my iPod are …

A: … “California Love” by Tupac; “Nostalgia” by Pusha T; and “Gotta Have It” by Jay Z.

Q: What are your three favorite apps?

A: Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter.

Q: Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why?

A: My teammate Nick Hanson. He hardly tweets, but when he does it’s something that always has me laughing.

Q: How did you get started playing sports?

A: My parents got me into sports at a young age.

Q: At my first varsity practice, I was …

A: … scared. Within the first five minutes we got yelled at and had to start conditioning.

Q: What did you work on most before the start of the season?

A: Getting stronger, and working to improve my explosiveness and vertical jump.

Q: What are your goals for the 2014-15 season?

A: Lead my team to the Class 3A, Section 1 title.

Q: What is your favorite pregame meal?

A: Perry Fuerniss’ baked spaghetti. [He is the father of senior forward James Fuerniss.]

Q: To get focused for a game, I …

A: ... listen to “Straight Outta Compton” by N.W.A.

Q: I know I have an edge on an opponent when …

A: ... they won’t look me in the eye.

Q: If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be?

A: I would love to have a shot clock for basketball.

Q: Name one sport that you wish you could play, and why?

A: Wrestling because the matches get so intense.

Q: Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why?

A: The North Carolina Tar Heels. They are such a historic team, and I love when they beat Duke.

Q: When you have time off, what do you like to do?

A: Get wrapped up in a blanket and watch “The Office” on Netflix.

Q: In 10 years, I hope I’m …

A: … out of college and hopefully have a job as an actuary.

Q: Do you have a secret talent — and if so, what is it?

A: Cooking. I have been told I make a mean bowl of cereal.

Q: What is the best sports advice you ever received?

A: Events plus response equals outcome, from our assistant coach Jim Milinkovich. Everything isn’t going to go as planned, and it’s how you respond that is going to get you an outcome you are satisfied with.
