Class 3A Championship
No. 1 DeLaSalle (25-3) vs. No. 2 Austin (28-3), 6 p.m. Target Center
Why DeLaSalle will win: Simply put, the Islanders execute at a level of speed Austin cannot match. At every position they boast athletic players who have either made college commitments or are getting looks. And they are on a mission to win a third consecutive state championship.
Why Austin will win: The Packers might consider going right at DeLaSalle forward Reid Travis to find out whether the big man can defend as well as he attacks. They also shoot the ball well. Making shots consistently would slow DeLaSalle’s transition game. Austin has the revenge factor on its side as well.
Keys to watch: Austin’s defense must slow Travis inside while the Islanders must prevent guard Zach Wessels from getting off comfortable shots.
Did you know? DeLaSalle reserve Malcolm Porter is the son of Timberwolves assistant coach and former NBA player Terry Porter.
