Eden Prairie's Andre Wallace hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the host Eagles a thrilling 79-78 victory over Lakeville North on Saturday at Eden Prairie High School.

Wallace, a senior guard, had 33 points on the night, and junior Grantham Gillard chipped in 22 for the No. 7-ranked Eagles (10-3).

Eden Prairie's defense held the Lakeville North's high-scoring shooting guard J.P. Macura to just 21 points, 10 below his average. Connor Flack led the No. 3 Panthers (10-3) in scoring with 22.

Lakeville North seemed comfortably in control early in the game and led by double digits midway through the first half, and was up by six at halftime. But the Eagles mounted a comback on the scoring of Wallace and took a lead 74-70 with 1:30 left.

It didn't last long though as Lakeville North went back ahead by two and then fouled Eden Prairie to put Zach Hovey at the free throw line with just 3 seconds left and a chance to tie the game.  After missing his first attempt, Hovey intentionally missed the second and the ball ended up in the hands of Wallace who nailed the corner 3 for the win as the buzzer sounded.

It was an important win for the Eagles after coming off a dissapointing loss to Waconia in their last game. Up next is Owatonna on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Lakeville North will look to rebound when it plays No. 1-ranked Apple Valley on Tuesday.
