Saturday's Minnesota/Wisconsin Border Battle at Prior Lake High School, which matched seven Minnesota top boys' basketball teams against counterparts from Wisconsin, turned out to be a rout for the local teams.
The North Star state swept all seven games, with four of the victories coming from west-metro teams.
Eden Prairie rode 18 points from Andre Wallace to a 59-44 victory over Manitowac Roncalli, ending a three-game losing streak.
Six Hopkins players scored in double figures, led by 18 points from Jamal Davis, as the Royals turned back Green Bay De Pere 85-70.
Reid Travis scored 26 points, and DeLaSalle played its customary stifling defense in a 65-43 victory over Appleton West.
Osseo had little trouble with Hudson, winning 76-45 behind 22 points from Bridge Tusler.
In the other games, Apple Valley beat Madison Memorial 81-60, Mahtomedi downed Eau Claire Regis 77-49 and Prior Lake rallied to beat Rice Lake 66-53.
Jefferson to honor Aldrich
The name Cole Aldrich still carries plenty of weight at Bloomington Jefferson.
The 6-11 center, the 2007 boys' basketball Metro Player of the Year, will be honored by his alma mater by having his high school jersey hung from the rafters of the Jefferson gym at halftime of the Jaguars' home game against Apple Valley on Feb. 15.
Aldrich, who left Kansas after his junior season, is averaging about seven minutes and 1.8 points per game for the Houston Rockets.
Knights flex some muscle
