Treys the way for Trojans in 64-56 victory

Every time Maple Grove tried to make a run at New Prague, Luke Rynda had the answer. The Trojans' senior guard poured in three second-half treys to lead his team to a 64-56 victory over the Crimson in the Breakdown Tip Off Classic at Minnetonka High School.

With 15-1/2 minutes to go, Rynda and Nick Johnson hit back-to-back treys to stretch the lead to 39-31. A minute later, Rynda drained another with the defender right in his face.

Rynda's final dagger came with 5:30 remaining in the game. Seconds after Maple Grove's Jake Wieneke brought the crowd to its feet with a rim-rattling dunk that cut the lead to seven, Rynda calmly weaved through traffic and pulled up for a three-pointer.  Swish...nothing but net.

New Prague held that lead the rest of the way.

The Trojans had grabbed a 32-27 halftime lead behind 12 points from junior forward Paul Friendshuh, including a three-pointer. The junior forward finished with a game-high 16 points. Grant Kaufman had 10 first-half points for Maple Grove, while Brycen Wojta led the Crimson with 13.
