Preview

Talent everywhere. If you follow hoops 12 months out of the year you know the names Lucas Brown, Jordan Dembley, Mack Johnson, Delshon Strickland, Jordan Burich, Danny Sullivan, Kobe Critchley, Charlie Koontz, etc, etc. Ted Critchley of Roseville and Larry McKenzie of AHA are long time successful coaches in Minnesota but they are relatively new to the schools still. Both programs had hit some rough spots three years back but they are now on the upswing with the talent to be state title contenders.

Key Matchup

Danny Sullivan vs. Jordan Burich: These two long and talented forwards played AAU together this summer and are quite familiar as well as similar. Both have the length, size, and bounce to play the four position but the versatility to step away from the cup and play the three. Sullivan and Burich both are getting NSIC consideration right now while MIACs are drooling all over them. Two similar talents that will be fun to see go at one another.

Prediction

Why Roseville will win:

  • The Raiders are far deeper in their line-up and have way to many perimeter weapons for the Stars to slow down.
  • Logan Brown and Mack Johnson are a lethal one-two scoring punch. If you put your best defender on one that player will still score double figures while the other will go off for a huge night.

Why Holy Angels will win:

  • Jordan Dembley is a player who offensively can hurt you in so many ways you can barely count them all. He finds an area to inflict pain and then keeps attacking that weakness as a scorer and creator.
  • Holy Angels is able to find its defensive rhythm that Coach McKenzie preaches. The Stars need to do it quickly though, as the defense was spotty this fall and the Stars have been a slow starter lately.

Our Prediction: Roseville
