Islanders crowned 3A champs with basket as time expired in overtime against Minneapolis Washburn.

Three Stars

1. Reid Travis, DeLaSalle
In a game that began at breakneck speed, he was a calming and steady force in all the chaos. He dominated down low and put up nice inside moves all the way to a team high 20 points. He shot an efficient 8-15 from the field and collected an astonishing 18 rebounds. He was not as effective in the second half but had a key block and important free throws in the overtime period. Travis was selected to the Class 3A All-Tournament team.

2. Joseph Doby, Minneapolis Washburn
Doby carried most of the scoring for the Millers throughout the game. He had his way inside and on the fast break, tearing to the rim and muscling his way in the paint. He ended with a game high 21 points on 9-14 shooting. He grabbed 10 boards and was the Milers’ best player. Doby was also selected to the Class 3A All-Tournament team.

3. Ross Barker, DeLaSalle
Up to the last seconds of the game, Barker had been largely forgettable. He was solid in creating turnovers (he had five steals) but he gave the ball away six times and only had two points. In a flash, it was all erased, as Barker hit the game-winner for the Islanders as time expired. Writing his name into history books, his jumper from the corner propelled DeLaSalle to the Class 3A championship.
