No. 6 Lakeville North at Lakeville South
7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23

The annual battle for Lakeville gets underway Thursday when Lakeville North visits Lakeville South. It’s also a battle of old versus new, at least in regards to each team’s top players. North is the old guard, led by senior sniper J.P. Macura (31.8 ppg), who recently committed to Xavier and is as pure a scorer as there is in the state. He can — and has — hit for 50 points on a given night. Junior Connor Flack (13.8 ppg) averages almost a double-double and is a beast both in the paint and along the perimeter. South is struggling a bit in the win column this year (just a 5-10 record), but has one of the state’s best freshmen in guard Jack Sorenson (20.2 ppg). He’s tough beyond his years and should be an anchor point for a resurgent South program in the years to come.
