Heritage Christian at Mayer Lutheran

Heritage Christian has taken the No. 2-ranking in Class 1A after beating No. 3-1A Central Minnesota Christian 51-49 on Jan. 28, and the Eagles look to defend their position against a red-hot Mayer Lutheran squad.

Heritage Christian (18-2, 11-0) has won seven straight games since a 73-56 loss to No. 1-1A Minneapolis North on Jan. 20. Opponents have struggled to contain C.J. Woda (20.9 ppg) on the wing, Zach Johansen (20.1 ppg) from outside and Jack Vandertop (8.9 ppg) in the post.

The Crusaders won eight straight before falling to Belle Plaine 77-66 last Friday. Mayer Lutheran (14-8, 6-4) upset No. 14-2A Jordan 76-75 on Feb. 2 behind Kobey Woolhouse’s 37-point night. Woolhouse is sixth in the state with 59 made three-pointers on the season and gives Mayer Lutheran a ever-present offensive threat.
