Red Lake at Nevis
7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17

Nevis launched itself into Class 1A's top 5 rankings after a 60-40 upset over then-ranked No. 2-1A Red Lake on Jan. 24. The Tigers are now taking aim on the Northland Conference title, which they can capture with a win Friday over the visiting Warriors.

Six-foot-3 guard Griffin Chase eclipsed the 2,000th career point mark on Feb. 4 against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley and leads Nevis with 23 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

The No. 4-1A Tigers (19-1, 12-0) enter the week riding a 14-game winning streak, and they have been stalwart on defense, allowing 42.7 points per game.

That was on display as Nevis held Red Lake (18-3, 10-1) to a season low point total in the earlier victory. The Warriors' Rob McClain Jr. ran into foul trouble early in the game, and his loss -- he averages 15.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, 7.4 assists and five steals per game this season -- didn't help the offense.

Red Lake would like to avenge the loss with a victory that could also put the No. 5-ranked Warriors in a position to grab a share of the league title at the end of the regular season.
