This Class 1A, Section 5 matchup will be crucial in deciding which team takes the top seed, with Nevis at 6-0 and Walker-Hackensack-Akeley just behind at 5-3. 

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley dropped its Jan. 10 meeting with Nevis 66-47, but has since won three of its past four games. The Wolves (10-4, 4-2) are led by junior forward Nathaniel Armstrong (15 points per game).

Nevis has rolled to an unbeaten record in the Northland Conference after upsetting No. 2-1A Red Lake 60-40 last Tuesday. Griffin Chase had 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists against Red Lake, a win that highlighted the Tigers’ defense that held the Warriors to less than half of their 83.1 ppg average. 

The No. 6-1A Tigers (15-1, 8-0) followed then avenged their only loss of the season, topping No. 11-1A Cass Lake-Bena 59-46 on Thursday for their 10th straight win.
