Champlin Park vs. Park Center
7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24

The fact that Mikayla Hayes, Danielle Schaub and Ann Simonet are all nominated for the Miss Minnesota Basketball award showcases how multifaceted Park Center is once again this season. Hayes, a Florida recruit, averages 10 points per game. Schaub leads the team with 11.8 ppg and Simonet averages 10.1. Add in Sommer Blakemore, who averages 11.3 ppg, and few teams can match that kind of depth.

Simonet led the Pirates (10-5, 5-0) with 15 points on Jan. 19 in a 49-39 loss to Wayzata. Blakemore contributed with 11 points.

The Rebels' (12-4, 4-2) tandem of Erica Hicks (20.1 ppg) and Allison Gerads (13.1 ppg) will try to make up for last season’s section championship loss. Gerads is a state champion long jumper who is back after missing last season because of an anterior cruciate ligament tear.

Hicks had 22 points in a 63-48 win on Jan. 20 over Blaine and Makayla Johnson stepped up with 11 points.
