Orono vs. Fergus Falls
3:15 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3

Fergus Falls advanced to its first state championship game a year ago, but the Otters fell to Class 3A juggernaut DeLaSalle 79-65 to end their season with a 28-4 record.

Fergus Falls returns three all-state honorees in senior Matthew Monke and juniors Nathan Rund and Harrison Christensen, who all shot better than 40 percent from beyond the three-point arc to help the Otters make a tournament-high 26 three-pointers.

Rund started this season with an impressive performance, scoring 16 points in Fergus Falls' 88-60 season-opening victory over Breckenridge last Thursday. The No. 2-3A Otters (1-0) drained 11 three-pointers, including four from Elijah Colbeck, who also finished with 16 points. Five other players scored in double digits, led by Christensen's 13-point, 10-rebound performance.

Orono opened the season with a 79-54 win over Monticello last Friday and showed it can keep pace with one of the state's best teams a day later as Griffen Sage finished with 25 points and Max Bjorklund had 23 to pace the No. 10-3A Spartans (1-1) in a 94-88 overtime loss to No. 2-2A Minnehaha Academy.
