Minnehaha Academy vs. Minneapolis North
12:45 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10

Two of Minneapolis’ premier programs meet in what should be a much closer game than last year’s 93-70 rout put on by Minneapolis North.

A talented wave of young players should help the Redhawks avenge the loss as No. 2-2A Minnehaha Academy didn’t lose a single player who scored in last year’s matchup.

The Redhawks youthful lineup, however, is far from unseasoned as it defeated No. 6-3A Orono 94-88 in overtime last Saturday.

Freshman Jalen Suggs, in his third year on varsity, had a monstrous debut, posting a state-leading 42 points while St. Paul Johnson transfer Lorenzo Smith filled in well at the wing with 15.

Minneapolis North (0-1) held an early lead over No. 6-4A Apple Valley on Saturday but couldn’t convert late and fell 84-70.

Western Illinois commit Isaac Johnson posted a team-high 21 points for the No. 1-1A Polars, followed by JaQuan Sanders-Smith’s 20 and ODell Wilson IV’s 19.
