Apple Valley vs. Champlin Park
8:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10

Apple Valley faces Champlin Park in a rematch of the Class 4A state championship from two years ago and their meeting is the Breakdown Sports Boys' Tip Off Classic's final game -- one fans are urged to arrive early for if they want a seat.

The Eagles won the state title after holding off a late surge by the Rebels to win 64-61 and deal Champlin Park its only loss of the season.

Tre Jones is the only player from that Apple Valley squad on this year's roster and he's got the Eagles soaring. The junior finished with 29 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists as the No. 6-4A Eagles defeated No. 1-1A Minneapolis North 84-70 on Saturday.

Posting a school-best 31-1 record in two years ago was merely a consolation token for the Rebels, who look to avenge that lone loss and assert themselves as the top-ranked team in Class 4A this season.

Champlin Park resembled that state runner-up team on Saturday in its season opener, as the Rebels (1-0) used its athletic backcourt to dominate Rochester John Marshall 113-74.

Dayton prospect McKinley Wright led four other guards with double-digit points, posting a game-high 27.

Marquette commit Theo John presents a mismatch for the Eagles (1-0), who relied on now-graduated 7-footer Brock Bertram to handle the Rebels' 6-9 post in the championship game.
