St. Paul Central at St. Paul Johnson
7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 18

Year in and year out, St. Paul Johnson has found itself finishing atop the St. Paul City Conference standings.

The last time another team finished first in the league standings was in 2008, when St. Paul Central shared the title with the Governors.

The Minutemen (16-5, 9-1) have a chance to do it again this season with a win at Johnson (12-12, 8-2) in the regular-season finale. Both have league contests on Tuesday, and a loss by either would significantly impact the weight of this matchup.

Central survived the first meeting with the Governors, winning 60-52 on Jan. 26. Minutemen leading scorer Sam Gubbrud (22.3 ppg) was held to just 13 points, but senior center Abdikalak Muse picked up the scoring slack with a game-high 20 points.

To win the conference outright, Central must to limit Johnson's balanced scoring attack. The Governors have five players averaging more than 9.4 ppg, led by senior guard Carlin Clarke (13.3 ppg).
