Wayzata at Hopkins
7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29

Hopkins has been one of the most dominant teams in Class 4A this season but barely escaped with a 79-78 win over Lake Conference foe Wayzata on Dec. 11, its closest game so far this year.

The No. 6-4A Trojans (12-5, 3-1) look to pull off the upset in their second go-round with the No. 1-4A Royals (19-0, 4-0) on Friday, a game that also has important implications for Class 4A, Section 6 seeding.

Both teams have found success partially due to deep rosters.

Hopkins has five players averaging double figures in scoring, led by future Gopher Amir Coffey (20.9 ppg), who had 25 points against Wayzata in the season's first meeting.

The senior backcourt of Jack Sowada (14.9 ppg) and Johnny Beeninga (14.8 ppg) leads a group of four Trojans posting double-figure point totals.
